On May 6-8, the international jury met in Ruichang, Jiangxi to review the submissions to the Mount Lu Estate of World Architecture (MOLEWA) competition held under the auspice of UIA. Architects from more than 40 countries participated in this unique competition. After rigorous professional evaluation of all submissions, the jury came to a unanimous decision to recommend 20 excellent designs for award.
Officers from the Bureau of Notary Public, Municipal Government of Ruichang were on hand when the jury’s decision was announced and subsequently matched the winning designs to the names contained in a sealed envelop. The UIA observer on hand confirmed that the anonymity procedure was strictly and correctly executed.
Hua Yan Group as the project promoter has in turn performed due diligence with regard to the putative winners of the competition and confirmed to its satisfaction that the legitimate author(s) of the winning designs were identified.

The international jury remarked “after a thorough analysis of both masterplan and the projects, we have identified a group of architectural projects which deserve recognition and meet the conditions of the competition objectives.” The Hua Yan Group and different levels of governments involved in the project are likewise very positive about the outcome of the competition. “The collective quality of the designs is world class plus one, in my opinion,” commented Mr. XuFeng, Chairman of Hua Yan, “not only this is a celebration of architectural excellence, but also the official launch of an innovative model of new urbanization in China.”
The award ceremony of the competition is scheduled on July 22, 2015, in the storied Great Hall of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference in Beijing. Besides, the competition winners, expected attendees to the ceremony include senior officials from different levels of Governments in China, UIA, and UNESCO, as well as leaders of architectural communities from around the world.
