The Silk Road Garden is inspired by the rich history and culture of Chengdu, capital of the Sichuan Province. Thanks to its fertile soil and favorable weather, Chengdu was also known as ‘the abundant land’ in ancient China. 

The garden combines architectural and planting design in a conceptual way to depict the different landscape features of Chengdu. In contrast to the planting environments, the garden showcases species that have Chinese origins in the west.

At the central theatrical plaza where located at the heart of the garden, we can see the symbol that consists with the 3,000 year old Sun and Immortal Bird legend of Chengdu. A ‘silk road’ path runs through the garden, celebrating the commercial, cultural and horticultural legacy of the historic Silk Road trade route.
